About Us

Whose idea was this?

"I know, let's do a campsite!"

Sounds like a great idea.  In 2019, Royston first had the idea to create a small campsite - nothing huge - just a few small pitches.

Having spent many a holiday camping ourselves (with 4 kids), we looked round and thought "Okay, what did we want from a campsite?"

From that thought Ferry View was born.  The whole family has been instrumental in the creation of what you see today, from the big jobs, with Jake's sometimes not so forthcoming help, through to the chalkboards, and even our Green Tourism Award (something which I mostly attribute to Annabel - ask her about the turtles).

At Ferry View, we want everyone to enjoy their stay, to feel welcomed and to discover what Caithness, the county we now call home, has to offer.  Our passion for the area is what drives us, and we hope that after your visit, you too will love Caithness as much as we do.

Meet the Crew

Family Group

Okay, so the kids will probably kill me for this, but this is the team - so to speak (taken a year or two ago- 2009 to be precise).  We moved up to Caithness in 2010 (to be greeted with a good few feet of snow - Oh what had I done?).  Even so, everyone has grown to love living in the far, far north, roots have been planted and the family has grown (you know who you are!).

Despite some venturing further afield, Ferry View still maintains the family feel, welcoming everyone to this beautiful part of the country.  Why not come and meet us in person?  Or see what we've been up to on our blog.
